Here’s exactly how our 2 day trip went and all the recommendations for you!
Day 1: Checking into Hotel Adam and exploring Railay Beach
We started our trip by checking into Hotel Adam which is a modern, luxurious and unique hotel situated in the centre of Ao Nang. We chose this hotel for its unique architecture, location and the fact that you have your own personal pool! The Hotel Adam is also in a perfect location as it is just off the Main Street so it’s quiet but right next to the buzz!
You can read my full review here of this beautiful hotel for more details!
Once we settled in we decided to spend the afternoon exploring Railay Beach which is one of the most famous spots in Krabi.
Getting there was very simple. From Ao Nang Beach, head to a small stall called Ao Nang Boat Service to purchase return tickets for a longtail boat journey to Railay Beach. The tickets cost 100 Baht (£2.31/$3.06) per person and we were given a pink ticket to keep safe for the return trip.
Once we had our tickets, we joined a small group of other travellers waiting to go to Railay Beach. A quick ride down the street took us to the departure area, where we hopped on the traditional longtail boat for a short 10–15 minute ride over to Railay Beach.
I would highly recommend checking the weather beforehand! We went on a day when the rain stopped and the water was still quite choppy.
When we arrived to Railay Beach the weather cleared up beautifully! The beach was quite busy but the views were just amazing.

As well as lounging on the beach we also explored along the main beach too. There are small paths that are lined with local food restaurants, bars and cafes. You will pay more for your meal but that is to be expected!
Once we were ready to leave Railay Beach we headed back to the same spot we were dropped off and show your pink ticket. There are several different longtail boat companies operating from there, so you’ll be directed to the right one.
We had to wait around 15–20 minutes as the boats usually wait to fill up before leaving. Depending on the time of day, your wait could be shorter or longer so this is something to be aware off!
Day 1: A delicious dinner and a visit to Ao Nang Market
After returning to Ao Nang, we decided to eat at Sea Salt Restaurant! This is a rooftop spot on the main high street with beautiful views of the mountains!
I ordered a chicken pizza which was light, crispy and just what I needed! The menu consists of a lot of Mediterranean style food.

But the night didn’t end there! After dinner we visited the Ao Nang Night Market which is filled with food stalls, souvenirs and even live entertainment!
At 9pm every night you can watch a free fire show performance which we didnt even know about! The performance was really impressive and definitely draws a fun crowd.

The show is free to watch but after the performance, a few of the performers come around with a box to leave a tip to support their craft.
Day 2: Breakfast and a visit to Ao Nang Goat Farm
Now onto the next day! We started the morning with breakfast at SAAD Kitchen which is a local Thai owned restaurant that serves really delicious breakfast dishes for great prices. We tried the pancakes which I highly recommend getting! They also have the cutest cats walking around too🥹

After breakfast, we made a quick stop at the Ao Nang Goat Farm. This was a last minute find but it’s such a wholesome experience! the farm is free to visit, but donations are welcome to help support the owners (you can find a clear box at the front to put money in).
You can feed the goats banana leaves, and if you’re lucky, bottle-feed the baby ones which was so cute!! I would definitely recommend visiting & adding to your list.
**Please make sure to wear something more covered and/or apply mosquito repellent as there were soo many!!**

Day 2: The MEKA Boat Tour – The highlight of our trip!
Now for the highlight of our trip!! In the afternoon we went on a MEKA Boat tour which was from 3pm to 8pm and this was the itinerary for the afternoon:
3pm: Check-in at Meka Office – Ao Nam Mao Pier. This is where you’ll receive a warm welcome with snacks and water.
4pm: Set sail on the MEKA Boat and begin the journey towards the 4 islands passing Railay Bay, Poda Island and Tup Island.

5pm: Arrive at Chicken Island and enjoy a range of activities including swimming, paddle boarding and snorkelling. Or if you don’t want to do that you can enjoy time on the MEKA Boat and capture all the picture perfect moments!

6pm: Enjoy a buffet dinner. This was sooo delicious!! The buffet included chicken skewers, fried fish with sweet chilli sauce, vegetarian sushi, salads and a range of fruits. Everything was so tasty and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was.
7pm: Enjoy fun entertainment on board and great music playing. We were so lucky to experience an absolutely gorgeous sunset and we couldn’t stop taking pictures of the views. I’ve attached some pictures I took 🙂

8pm: The experience came to an end. We docked not too far from the shore and were then picked up by a smaller speedboat or longtail boat to take us back to shore.
**Note: We went on the longtail boat and I was scared! It was very dark out & I was a little nervous for the short journey back. I would recommend picking the speedboat version.**
The entire experience was so well organised from start to finish. The service was incredible, the music was great, the tour was magical and it was the perfect way to see some of the neighbouring islands.
I would highly recommend this activity as after so many months it is still my favourite activity I did in Thailand!
That sums up our trip to Ao Nang! I would say spending 2 days there is a perfect amount of time to explore Ao Nang and also the beautiful islands surrounding it too.
